Roleplaying and More

Personal Links

Johnson-Weider Family Website - If you want to know more about the Johnson-Weiders, particularly about our passion for books, Bollywood, and other diversions this is the place to go.  Some of the site is closed to only friends and family, but you can learn more than you wanted to know from the public sections.

Media Links

Box Office Mojo - This is where I go for all my information on ticket sales on movies, which is something I find fascinating as it really is the intersection of media manipulation and the American psyche.

Electoral-vote.com - This is a truly exceptional site for analysis of voting patterns and whenever elections are coming around this is the place to go to for analysis.  Very insightful.

Politico - This is a fine resource for political news, but it is like all corporate media - overly sensationalized, simplistic, and often misses the mark.

Washington Post - If you have to pick one media outlet this is probably the best choice, especially, if you have any interest in DC politics.

Roleplaying Links

Battletech Wiki -  If you are running a Battletech RPG campaign or just want to add flavor to a Battletech battle then this is a great site for information.

The Blue Room - S. John Ross is a very good RPG writer and his webpage has a lot of useful materials in this website and from here you can link to his indie company Cumberland Games.

Crazy Monkey's Asylum - These are forums owned by a friend of mine (who goes by the moniker Crazy Monkey) and is one of the few forums I frequent and regularly run play-by-post campaigns.

The Forge - This is the place for indie and amateur RPG designers to come to dabble in game design, publishing, or just to talk shop with other gamers who like to tinker with rules. I don't frequent the site for various reasons but it is where I point people who want to really get into RPG design.

Green Ronin - Green Ronin is home of Blue Rose, Mutants & Masterminds, A Faery's Tale, Song of Fire and Ice, and so on.  I own a number of Green Ronin games and can attest to their high production standards though in full disclosure I don't run many campaigns with Green Ronin products.

The In Nomine Collection - Steve Jackson Games maintains this phenomenal resource for its In Nomine RPG which I have always been enjoyed though I have only run a few In Nomine campaigns.

Invisible Castle - The definitive RPG dice rolling program on the Internet.

Memory Alpha and Memory Beta - While not roleplaying sites if you are running a Star Trek campaign then these wikis are a must.  Alpha reflects canon (TV and Movies) and Beta reflects non-canon (books and other media).

Memory Icon - A great Star Trek RPG website that hosts Steve Long's incredible Spacedock and Starship Recognition Manuals which are a must for any Star Trek RPG.

Paizo - The home for the Pathfinder RPG (basically 3.75 Edition D&D) and many other interesting products that are worth a look though it is a very awkward website to navigate.

Phoenix Lore - An e-zine of Crystal Unicorn Enterprises that I wrote a few articles for (that you can find on this website) that may or may not have died.  It is a tough world out there for e-zines.

P.R.I. - A great resource for Battletech and it has lots of excellent resources.

ProFantasy - Campaign Cartographer is the name in mapping.  I have recently switched to CC3 and absolutely love it and just wish I had more time to make maps.

QT Games - This is a small RPG and boardgame company with a tight play-by-post community that is run by a really nice guy (who goes by the moniker NexusX) who has been running campaigns in his Cosmothea setting for over 30 years.

Rancor Pit - One of the best D6 Star Wars communities with a host of active play-by-post campaigns and a very experienced community of gamers who are keeping D6 Star Wars alive.

RPGGamer.org  - A great resource for D6 Star Wars, which is the definitive version of Star Wars RPGs.

RPGnet  - Probably the premier website for tabletop RPGs.  A phenomenal resource with reviews, columns, and probably the broadest forums for any RPG site. If you want an informed opinion about RPGs this is the place to go.  I also have a monthly column on duets at RPGNet.

RolePlayGateway - This is a huge play-by-post community that uses forum roleplaying, which is roleplaying sans rules.  Very interesting and worth a look.

SWRPGnetwork - This excellent site supports both D6 and d20 Star Wars RPGs with conversions to both systems.

TrekRPGNet - This is a great resource for Star Trek RPGs, especially, the ICON system that was produced by the defunct Last Unicorn Games.  The forums are pretty dead nowadays, mainly as there is no longer a Star Trek RPG in print.

Vajra Enterprises - This is an indie RPG publisher which produces some dense and well-thought out RPGs like Tibet the RPG

Wookiepedia - Once again this isn't a roleplaying site, but if you are running a Star Wars campaign this is a phenomenal resource.
